My.. I didn't realize you were a musician too. Beautiful music! I forwarded your site to our son, in music ministry school in Austin TX. We had bought some of your long knights' belts a few years back and love them! Hoping to return to TxRenFest next fall and wear them again.

Hi, Bill, For one thing, I thank you for introducing me to the DADGAD tuning. I like the whole C, and I have listened carefully to several of the tracks to understand the guitar parts in them. I really like White Hills of Home and may even try my rendition of that one. I am a bit puzzled as to how that song could be played in DADGAD, but I can readily understand how it could be played in the standard guitar tuning. With my limited competency in DADGAD, I will probably do my version of that song in the standard guitar tuning. I love the effect of the guitar, bass piano, and three-part vocals. I also like The Jolly Beggar; that was a great performance! D

Your article on looping was interesting. jFor my part, I see much similarity between a musician and a magician - especially when one-man productions are involved. My philosophy is that I will "cheat" any way that suits me to get the sound I want, provided that I am not breaking a law or harming myself or another person. In the country song "Satisfied Mind," the singer starts it "cold": "How many" the instruments and backup vocals come in on "times have you...." My cheat on that one was to have two measures at the beginning: on piano, four quarter notes, "D, F#, A, D," and two quarter rests. The lead singer then starts - "cold," but not really; the four piano notes aren't heard because I enable the final recording on the second quarter rest. And listeners are left to wonder, "How did he get that timing and pitch exactly right?" That's the "magician's" part of it.

Chris sent me a link to one of your YouTube videos and I've much enjoyed watching them all. Your voice is perfect for that style of music. "The Athens Queen" reminded me of "Lost on the Lady Elgin". I learned it in childhood from my mother (your Aunt Enid). She learned it from our Grandmother Morris. Here are the lyrics but the score is not exactly as I remember:

Keep up the great work, Cuz.

Hi William, sorry I didn't make it out there but I am "homing" a new kitty and didn't want to leave him. I'm so sorry I missed your duet with Mary. It's so good to reconnect with her after all these years! You, too. :)
